Another birthday...

This one is bittersweet. I just finished my last day at the company I've been working at for almost 5 years. It had it's ups and downs, to be certain.

The sad part is that it was a job where I got to telecommute, and therefore was able to focus my attention whereever I needed/wanted without micromanagement. Gaming over lunch didn't hurt either.

Now I'm 38 and it's time for new challenges. Hold good thoughts for me!

I responded with the following as my cover letter.

It is a dark time for the Software Quality Avenger. Although for the past five years, he used his coding prowess, testing abilities and focus to make his former employer a success, the corporate office has shut down the Austin development team and forced him into unemployment.

Evading the dreaded unemployment lines, this uniquely talented QA has demonstrated his knowledge of SQL; the ability to read and write almost any programming language he is exposed to; and knowledge of WatiN - a .Net implementation of WatiR.

This excellent example of a Software Quality Engineer, obsessed with finding a company where he can demonstrated his abilities, has dispatched his attached resume into the far reaches of cyberspace...

New Job

On either the 22nd or the 1st of March I'll be starting a new job.

I'll post more details when I know them - but for now, I'm still employed "somewhere".
