Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - Where in the U.P. is Phora?

Dynasty flies outside of the penthouse and attempts to scan Earth and surrounding space for Phora.

Inside the penthouse, Catd is playing Call of Duty with his online friend.  Catd says he's been playing for 43 hours straight and hasn't seen Phora in as much time. Catd is being very dismissive of his brother Skid and is only interested in playing video games.

At this moment, the group notices that the security defense grid has been activated. Reflecti-kid immediately throws up a reflective screen hiding them from detection. Katrina suggests they make their way to the entry foyer to disable the system. Catd complains that he doesn't want to move causing Kat to lose her temper and yell at him. They make their way to the foyer and Katrina uses her radiation abilities to cause a low level EMP to take out the security system.

Dynasty is unable to detect Phora. Catd becomes impatient and indicates that Phora was probably going to Ventura Prime. The group leaves to go to Legion HQ. Kat gets a message from Tenzil Kem, Attorney at Law!

It turns out that because Katrina still owns property on Ventura and because Qar and Katrina have a child, they are COMMON LAW MARRIED! This means Qar cannot get married again. Kat is apoplectic over this turn of events.

Katrina indicates that she doesn't want to be married - So Tenzil says that he can work out a divorce/annulment for them.

Qar says that he has worked out the stuff with Margi. However, he can certainly help with the other issue.

The group returns to Legion HQ so they can get a cruiser to get them to Ventura. Dynasty checks her messages on the way back. One is from her Mother saying that she is looking forward to seeing her later for dinner.

They arrive, Dynasty goes to the mission monitor room to talk to Dream Girl. Dream Girl reminds her that she has monitor duty this evening. Dynasty sends a message to her mother in hopes of using this as an excuse of getting out of dinner.

Skid takes Catd to the holo-gym and creates a scenario to play in. Skid then sends a message to his mother saying that he got Catd and looks forward to seeing her.

Quatro tries to hack data from Phora's OmniCom again and manages to get in. He finds the bank withdrawals and a purchase of a high-end one-man space cruiser - Venusian Mazeratti 183. Further hacking reveals that he has been having some communications that are encrypted for the past six weeks. Quatro is unable to decrypt them.

Meanwhile, Reflectikid is trying to get an OmniCom. He starts looking around, however, he is unable to obtain one as he is lacking authorization. He asks Katrina for authorization and she grants it along with any other reasonable request he needs. Computo provides him with a introductory OmniCom.

Katrina is looking through her notes and journals to try to determine what the heck happened in this timeline that caused the falling out between her and Invisible Kid. She finds the syllabus she wrote, tests she gave, other missions they went on, and such. In reading the documents, she determines the notes have a similar tone to what she'd write, but a little off. Oddly though, the notes from the Science Police she received on her school terminal about Phora she simply marked as "ignore". Quatro sends her the encrypted communications but she is unable to decrypt them either.

They decide to ask Dream Girl for help. However, she indicates that she is better at biomedical. When they meet her, she is tired and Qar offers to give her a massage. They head to the gym, and they summon a massage table and Qar starts to work. She falls asleep while he works. After a few minutes, Dream Girl wakes and cries, "Dynasty! I have to talk to her!" and flies off.

Dream Girl gets to Dynasty, "Something is going to happen to your father. You have to get something from him in order to get him back. That's all I saw in my vision!" Dream Girl relieves her and Dynasty teleports home. Something seems wrong in the shadow dimension.

As Dynasty grabs something her father appears wondering what she's doing. This is odd because apparently she HAS been at dinner with them. She attempts to catch up with "herself" in the house, and finds more of the ashen dust similar to what they found in Katrina's office. She starts to analyze is as her father vanishes. Dynasty's mother and brother arrive and have no memory of her father.

Dynasty creates a green bubble around her and his shirt that she picked up to make sure it doesn't vanish. She scans the dust and determines a biological residue similar to what was left behind when the duplicate of her brother, Kyle, created by Mantis Morlo dissolved.

Her mother (who remembers the events in the time bubble), accuses her of not 'taking care of things' with Harmonia Li. To protect Kyle, Dynasty leaves with him and returns to Legion Headquarters so they can go to Ventura - where her father was going to go before he vanished.

They congregate at Legion HQ and get ready for take off. They check on the status of Mantis Morlo only to find the files are restricted. In comparing notes, they realise that a person who Kyle refers to as "Uncle D" is, in actuality, Universo. Katrina sends all of the scan information on the ash to Dream Girl as she is the biomedical expert.

Just as they take off, Leland McCauley IV calls Qar. He asks Qar why "a four-armed quatro is in his penthouse". The party changes direction to Lakeopolis. Dynasty attempts to use her powers to allow her to read the encrypted messages but to no avail.

They all get together to try again but fail to decrypt it.

They arrive in Lakeopolis only to discover that Phora is NOT there. Qar calls Leland who indicates that he did NOT talk to him about Phora. Dynasty observes that every time they've tried to go to Ventura, something has interrupted them.

Dynasty gets a call from her father indicating everyone has left. Furthermore, her brother remembers their father as well.

They head to Ventura.

During the trip they try again to decrypt the messages and fail. Dynasty theorizes there is something going on with probability. After talking a bit, Kyle reveals that he'd met Morlo (in disguise) and manipulated his metagene. Skid scans him and reveals that Kyle now has an active metagene. Katrina attempts to analyze Kyle's metagene based on her experience with an inactive metagene.

At this moment I notice that the GM is surreptitiously rolling dice whenever we roll to accomplish something.

Skid manages to reach Chief Zendak about the status of Mantis Morlo. He was being transferred to labyrinth when someone broke him out. The powers looked similar to Shadow Lass. Dynasty speculates this is actually the work of Vandal Savage.

Katrina attempts to confirm if probability is being manipulated. Her Omni-Com fails. Next Katrina gets a coin and flips it several times with Dynasty calling "heads or tails". Out of 100 times, 97% of the time the coin is tails (with Dynasty always calling heads).

They arrive on Ventura Prime and attempt to find Phora. News reports indicate in the Stardust Casino there is a quatro going insane on the casino pool on floor 127. However, there is no record of Phora's ship having arrived.

The group splits up and tracks down the quatros.

Qar and Skid go to investigate the casino pool. Dynasty and Kyle investigate the gambling floors. Katrina and Reflectikid investigate one of the rooms.

Katrina manages to activate her previously latent derlin powers to look like Catd. They arrive at the room and are greeted by Qar's mother, Myrn Rud. She says she wants to meet Phora.

Qar and Skid arrive at the pool and find his father, Ouro Rud, is the being frolicing nude in the pool. He is overjoyed to see his son.

Dynasty fails to find Phora but sees Power Boy operating the holo-roulette table. Dynasty pulls him aside. Power Boy tells her that he will repay the debt - a debt that Dynasty isn't aware of. Dynasty catches him up about Phora when Skid and Katrina both call her to let her know what's going on. At that moment everyone at the roulette table loses confirming that Kyle likely has "misfortune" powers.

They all agree to meet at the employee dining hall. They meet. Qar thinks that the Golden Wolves are trying to entrap him by giving his parents the trip to Ventura. Katrina remember that she saw the future incarnation of Phora at a Golden Wolves bar.

Suddenly, the Ventura sisters appear and point guns at Qar.

Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - Letter to Dr. Katrina Gupta from Jacques Foccart

From the GM

Thank you for your message, mam’selle. I have prayed long for guidance on how to respond. I am hurt, but my faith teaches me to forgive, and so I will. I understand why you might want to be with, as you put it, “the most powerful man in the galaxy who is almost as proficient at Science” as you, rather than “the least powerful Legionnaire.” I just wish you had found a different way to express it. But that is water under the bridge, non? You are my teammate, and that will remain so. Perhaps one day we can even be friends again. In the meantime, I wish you well in your relationship with the President. I hope you are happy performing Science with him.

LOVE LETTERS IN THE SAND

by Lynda Mzjwsk

Dear readers, listeners, and feelers—I’ve entitled this column “Love Letters in the Sand” because of an experience I once had, one that all sentients capable of expressing love have probably had. Many years ago, when my tentacles were ripe and I still had all my suckers, I was madly in love and so wrote a tender ode to my beloved in the sand of the beach near where we lived. I swore that my love for him would last as long as that letter. You can guess what happened next. An SP drone came along, cited me for vandalism, and lasered away my letter. Meanwhile, my beloved was eaten by a Venusian blood whale and eventually excreted into the waters where we once frolicked.

And so I write today of how the love letters in the sand that you think are so permanent can so easily disappear as the suckers of love’s tentacles wither and fall off.

Let’s first turn to the Event of the Season—the double Legion wedding on Winath. So much joy, now turning sour. A rumor has reached me from inside Legion Academy that newlyweds Nightwind and Dynasty have already called it quits and plan to have the marriage annulled. Such a tragedy! Truly they were a beautiful couple, but their love letter was not to last. My source tells me that Dynasty told Nightwind that she no longer loves her and despite Nightwind’s desperate pleas has no intention of remaining in the marriage. Could this have anything to do with the return of longtime student Laurel Kent, who has been on Daxam for the past few months, recuperating from her injuries in the Universo Uprising? That scantily clad beauty could turn any sentient’s head or eyestalks, and rumor has it that Dynasty has longed for her since they first met. But Laurel Kent is reportedly dating Dynasty’s teammate Kid Skid. Oh what a tangled web of seaweed! I see many broken cardiovascular valves in this scenario.

Legion Academy temptress Laurel Kent
Things are no better for the other Legion couple married on Winath—Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl. Despite their longtime relationship, Ultra Boy was reportedly reluctant to commit to marriage, though he was all smiles at the ceremony, at least until the debacle with his best male sentient. Contrary to all expectation that he would choose Mon-El, his closest Legion friend, to serve, he instead chose Academy student Power Boy. But Power Boy fled in the middle of the ceremony, creating a scene that left Ultra Boy confused and Phantom Girl fuming. Why did Power Boy react so? Supposedly because he knew what I’m about to tell you now—that Ultra Boy was secretly in love with Mon-El’s true love, Shadow Lass! Power Boy couldn’t bear to go through with the duplicity of the ceremony and so left. Although the ceremony continued, reports from within Legion HQ have indicated that Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl have had many loud fights since then. Meanwhile, Mon-El has taken Shadow Lass far away from Earth and Ultra Boy. Coincidence? Not likely! More cardiovascular valves on the crushing block!
Legion hunk Ultra Boy preparing for his wedding
And finally one more romance that had flown under the holoradar but could be in trouble—dreamy Earth President Kel Wynters has reportedly wooed new Legionnaire Quantum Cat away from her teammate Invisible Kid. The latter two had attended Legion Academy Prom together this past spring and seemed to be tentatively starting a relationship. But then President Wynters swooped in to make Quantum Cat his new Minister of Science and sparks reportedly flew, leaving Invisible Kid on the outs. But now we hear that Quantum Cat stood President Wynters up after he reserved all of Metropolis’ fanciest restaurant just for the two of them. Could it be because she still has feelings for teammate Quatro Lad, who himself is engaged to Margi Tinelli but has been putting off the wedding for months? According to my source, Quantum Cat and Quatro Lad are still common-law spouses, which has complicated matters with both of their prospective partners.
Earth President Kel Wynters preparing to address the UP Council
All of these love letters in the sand, dear audience, are being metaphorically lasered out of existence! My remaining suckers pucker at the thought of all this unhappiness. Stay tuned for updates on these doomed romances!

NEW LEGIONNAIRES SAVE BRAALIAN SOLAR CRUISE SHIP

by Jaymz Olsen

A quartet of the newest heroes to join the legendary Legion of Super-Heroes successfully rescued a crippled Braalian solar cruise ship and all sentients on board earlier today. The Faraday, in space for a close-up view of the solar flare storm raging on Braal’s sun, was disabled by one of the flares that was stronger than their shielding allowed for. The electromagnetic energies of the storm likewise temporarily shorted out the Braalian passengers’ natural magnetic powers, leaving them helpless as the ship was pulled in by the star’s gravity field. Fortunately, Dynasty, Kid Skid, Quatro Lad, and Quantum Cat were on hand to provide assistance.

Arriving in a green energy bubble of Dynasty’s making, the four Legionnaires quickly went to work. Quantum Cat, known for her amazing knowledge of Science, endeavored to repair the ship’s engines, while Dynasty hovered in space and deflected incoming solar flares. Meanwhile, Kid Skid moved among the passengers, helping the wounded and reassuring frightened children. Once the Faraday’s gravonomic engines were once again functional, Quatro Lad took the helm and safely piloted the ship back to Braal. Upon arriving on the planet’s surface, the four Legionnaires signed holoautographs and posed for holopics with the relieved passengers.

On board was former Magno Champion Tull Vrajj, who praised the valor of the four Legionnaires. “They were wonderific! I thought we were doomed for sure, but then the Legionnaires arrived. As a professional athlete, I wanted to help so I followed Quantum Cat to the engine room and handed her a magnometric wrench when she needed one. I even got a kiss from her as thanks! She’s now my favorite Legionnaire. Sorry, Pol!” he said, referencing Braalian native Pol Krinn, otherwise known as Magnetic Kid.

Former Magnoball champion Tull Vrajj
Another passenger, Sess Prakk, swooned while recounting her interaction with Quatro Lad, “On his way to the pilot’s chamber, he winked and pointed a finger at me. I nearly died! He’s so handsome!” Her boyfriend, Lam Thonn, however, wasn’t as complimentary, “That four-armed brute pushed me aside so he could flirt with my girlfriend. I think he bruised my shin. I should sue!”

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Legionnaires, the 220 passengers and 17 crew members were all returned to Braal uninjured, Lam Thonn’s bruised shin notwithstanding. The Faraday will undergo a complete evaluation before flying again.

TRIBUTE TO PFLX RAMBO PLANNED ON VENTURA

by Vari Von Varx

As we approach the three-month anniversary of the tragic murder of Venturan casino owner Pflx Rambo, a star-studded tribute to the visionary businessman is being planned on Ventura. Rambo, who is still dead, was killed under mysterious circumstances, and his murderer was never captured. Speculation has ranged from the assassin being one of his 33 ex-wives to a rival casino owner with a grudge.

Pflx Rambo, still dead
Mona Climaxia, Rambo’s longtime “personal secretary” and new manager of the Golden Stardust Casino since his death, has a different theory—“I think he was killed because he was, you know, too good for this universe. The cosmos itself wanted him dead because it was, you know, jealous of his magnitudiousness. Is that a word?”

Mona Climaxia, still very much alive
Rumors have swirled for years about Pflx Rambo’s reported connection to organized crime on Ventura. Numerous United Planets Ethics Commission probes, however, never turned up any evidence of this, though it should be noted that each investigating commissioner retired soon after winning big at the Golden Stardust Casino.

The planned tribute to Pflx Rambo will last for the entire month of September, a non-stop party keeping with Ventura’s reputation as the galaxy’s premier entertainment planet. Scheduled guests include actors Craw Chaceford and Laylor Tautner, who will reenact their love scene from the award-winning holopic Dark Love live on stage; Tull Vrajj, former Braalian Magno Champion, who will hold a magnoball exhibition; the Ventura Sisters Donna and Etta, who will lecture on intergalactic macroeconomics while juggling 23 Rimborian megasharks; and Ghoran ambassadors Ochy Kare and Massi Knowl, who will recite arboreal haikus, reported to be Pflx Rambo’s favorite genre of poetry. Further guests will be announced as they’re confirmed.

Shattered Star - Into the Nightmare Rift - The Very Model of a Dragonmarked Khorvarian

The party sits down to figure out how best to handle the ratling. They eventually decide to lay a trap for the ratling by using a scroll as bait.

The next day, they leave a scroll on a table in the library with the rest of the party hiding nearby. Indeed the ratling does eventually step out and creep towards the scroll. However, it catches the sent of the Brelish sunrise that Morrigan is drinking and spots the group.  Morrigan gets the drop on the ratling and blinds it with glitterdust before it can act. Will runs up and attacks it with his sword separating it's head from it's body.

The party sends work to the captain that they managed to defeat the ratling.

Jazeem and Morrigan head to the pool to talk to the water elemental. The water elemental, Floog, is enjoying being on the ship and traveling and is in no danger. Morrigan warns them that the crew might be upset to find a water elemental is traveling with them and to be careful.

Next, Jazeem and Morrigan try to find the source of the extra tracks that were NOT from the ratling. They examine the tracks and determine they may be draconic. Morrigan casts arcane eye again and scans through the ship again. Jazeem and Wil also search.

Wil and Jazeem eventually find tracks and follow them to Tryptic's suite. Morrigan sends her eye through the keyhole and sees that, much like in her room, the gift bag is on the floor. She looks and notices that the soaps are missing - much like Morrigan's had.

Wil and Jazeem enter the room and hear a voice say, "One moment! Housekeeping!" A female halfling steps out. Jazeem starts asking questions and the halfing tries to run out. Jazeem catches her. At this, Morrigan walks up to the Tryptics room.

The halfling does indeed reveal itself to be a small silver dragon. The dragon flees and runs into Morrigan. Morrigan manages to talk her down. They talk and the dragon reveals that she just wants to work on the ship but the captain didn't want her. Morrigan offers to let her stay in her room for safety as she has no issues with her even after the dragon, Chesamel, reveals that she has been eating the soaps. Morrigan offers her access to her spellbook during the trip.

They swing by the gift shop in hopes of getting a blank spellbook for Chesamel. While they didn't have any, the party was able to purchase some nice paper and a bunch of spare soaps.

They have dinner with the captain and discuss the events of the day. He is pleased about the ratling. Jazeem is upset about the pigeons being used as live targets. Morrigan mentions to the captain that this may be something that he should prepare for lest idealistic children who are brought on board the ship have the same view (but subtly hinting to him that the solution is constructing an argument rather than just getting rid of the birds as she believes that is a non-starter). Jazeem accidentally mentions about "you were worried about our other secrets?' Morrigan blurts out, "I've been eating the soaps."

That evening they go to the Laughing DogFish to see the performance that had been set up.

However, the performance of the show isn't very good, except for the Pirate King. Jazeem is enthralled, Wil is bored, Morrigan ignores the show and drinks when she realises it's AWFUL.

Afterwards, they meet the cast. The person who plays the pirate king welcomes them and passes each of them a token for future performances. As soon as cast leaves, Jazeem asks Morrigan if the token is magical. While NOT magical, the token has a message scratched across it saying, "Danger, Crooks are About, Hold your Tongue."

They go back to Morrigan's cabin and ask Chesamel if she knows anything about this. Chesamel notes that she has seen some of the actors about the ship, but never the "pirate king" actor. Jazeem theorizes that all but the lead are fake actors.

The party goes back to the theater (after having lesser restoration cast on Morrigan). They find other actors threatening the lead.

Battle ensues. The heroes defeat the criminals.

The find blueprints of the ship and immediately go to talk to the captain. It turns out that the criminals were hired to infiltrate the acting troop so they could steal the ship.

The party all return to their rooms and goes to sleep.

The next day, after failing again to free the pigeons, Jazeem starts teaching Akeela how to make beds.

Morrigan makes sure everything is ready for the expedition.

They arrive at Stormreach and sell the gear the criminals had.

Note: I actually requested that we fight pirates. You can't say the GM didn't give me what I asked for.

Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - In Sickness and in Heath (part 2 of 2)

Dynasty calls Cosmic Boy who remembers the time changes and confirms that this appears to be the correct timeline. He’s surprised the time beacon is non-functional and they all suspect a modern version of Harmonia may have sabotaged the beacon remembering the previous time.

Kat insists they contact the Time Institute. The party flies to the time institute. The city looks as they expect (except for Reflecta-kid) and arrive at the Institute. The technician that greets them and says it can be repaired with “all the others”. It seems that the rest of the time bubbles were sabotaged except for one which was taken. The party suspects it’s Harmonia. The tech tells them that the Chronarch wants to see them. The Chronarch, Circadia Secundus, indicates that they Time Beacon’s frequency was altered to allow access to a parallel timeline - but it has been corrected.

The party leaves and returns to Dream Girl at Legion Headquarters. On the way, Dynasty contacts Duo Damsel. Duo Damsel suggests they return to the academy when they can. Dynasty is overjoyed that things appear to be mostly correct.

They arrive at Legion HQ - Computo is functioning correctly again (not super slow as it had). They meet up with Dream Girl who welcomes them back. She is pleased that they rescued the starliner. The party has no memory of this and suspects that could be other temporal versions of them. Dream Girl tries to call Brainiac 5, but, of course, he doesn’t respond. They introduce her to Reflecti-kid. She indicates that someone was looking for him, but doesn’t know their identities beyond “people in suits.”

They head down to meet Brainiac 5. Kat writes Reflecti-kid a letter of recommendation for Legion Academy and has him fill out an application. They enter the lab and Brainiac has his back to them. Dynasty is VERY worried since his arms are free but he is working on something - as in the past Quatro had copulated with one of Brainiac’s ancestors. However, when Brainiac turns, he does indeed have robotic helper arms.

They return to Dream Girl’s office with Brainiac to confer about the situation. Dynasty notices that Lamprey, Nightwind, and Crystal Kid were never promoted to Legionnaires. (This was expected as a number of the members had been previously removed from time requiring a bolstering of ranks).

Dynasty fills in Dream Girl and Brainiac with details about the war between Time Trapper and Mordru and the disruption of the timeline. They further explain about Reflecti-kid’s appearance. Brainiac indicates that he believes that Reflecti-kid is not from another timeline nor dimension.  They fill in as many details as they can about the cross-time adventures. Brainiac decides this is all beneath him and leaves.
expect (except for Reflecta-kid) and arrive at the Institute.

Kat sends an email to Invisible Kid 2 , "I'm back; I missed you".
He responds, "..."

The party heads to Legion Academy and Dynasty phases and hides inside Kid Skid to avoid speaking with Nightwind. Laurel, having returned from Daxom, is healthy and overjoyed to see Kid Skid! Dynasty steps out and greets Laurel who is decided cool to her, but congratulates her on the wedding. After a brief chat they continue to Duo Damsel’s office. They get there and greet NIGHTWIND! Duo Damsel grants her leave for her honeymoon with Dynasty. Nightwind leaves.

Feeling safe, Dynasty unphases from inside Kid Skid. Duo Damsel gives test results to Dynasty (B-), Kid Skid (B+), and Quatro (D-). Katrina starts reading her emails and is stunned at what she sees.

Everyone but Dynasty returns to Katrina's faculty office.

Dynasty talks to Duo Damsel. Apparently, the wedding DID happen though from Dynasty's point of view it never happened. Duo Damsel is somewhat bemused at this turn of events. They continue chatting about what happened in the intervening time. Power Boy left the academy after Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl married.

In the lab, they notice that there is a lot of dark ash-like dust that the autocleaner is cleaning up. The lab appears to have been used in the interim. Katrina finds the notes about a recent paper she published.

She proceeds to read her emails - about 20 of them. The Science Police indicate that Phora has been arrested (criminal mischief, vandalism). Further emails indicate charges of shoplifting, grand-theft hovercar, and assault. The final email indicates that Phora has escaped. Kat forwards these to Quatro.

She has received an email from the President of Earth about her acceptance of position to Scientific Advisor to the Office of the President. He has set up a dinner at the finest restaurant in Metropolis to discuss this (along with overtones of a romantic evening).

She sends and apology email to Invisible Kid who responds, "I understand Ma'amselle - I'll not trouble you again."

Quatro checks HIS email and finds that his lawyer is going to try "Operation: Bigamy" to weasel out of his upcoming wedding. He has hundreds of messages from Margi Tinelli and a few from her father. Leland indicates that he will no longer talk with him, but will only communicate via lawyers. Quatro sends her an email saying, "hey babe sorry things have been crazy i dont know what my lawyer is doing lets talk".

Katrina lets Reflectikid use a terminal. Reflectikid attempts to send a "space mail" to his planet and fails miserably. He eventually writes it down on a piece of paper so he can "space mail" it. Katrina says she'll mail it when she gets a chance (and promptly loses it).

Kid Skid checks his email and finds out that his little brother has gotten wrapped up in everything that Phora has been doing.

Quatro tries to track down the location of the Omni-Com he got for Phora - only to get the message, "SPROK OFF, DAD!"

Dynasty goes to the cafeteria. Nightwind is THRILLED to see Dynasty. Dynasty asks her to wait in the room for her. She agrees, excited to "get busy". Dynasty tells Lamprey that she MUST be there for Nightwind.

Dynasty explains to Nightwind that she has no memory of any of the intervening relationship due to jumping timelines. Further, Dynasty tells Nightwind that the marriage needs to be annulled. Nightwind indicates that while all of this was a practical joke, she had in fact fallen in love with her. Dynasty indicates that she'd likely married a temporal duplicate. Nightwind is heartbroken.

Note from me, Kid Skid's player had correctly guessed that it was a practical joke.

Dynasty goes to Katrina's office and is quickly brought up to date with the activities of Phora and Catd. They suspect that Phora and Cad have gone to Ventura. As they perform scans however, there is indications that they are in Lakeopolis. Kat sends Chief Zendick all the information she can infer about Phora's previous locations. Kat sends a message to Kel Wynters indicating that she needs to postpone the dinner because she has to deal with the situation with Phora.

Dynasty takes the party to Lakeopolis to look for Phora. Dynasty scans for all Ghorans in the city in hopes of locating Catd. She finds one in a skyscraper. They travel there and in the penthouse apartment, they locate Catd playing Call of Duty 200 - World War VIII.

Catd indicates that Phora was masterminding all the trouble they'd been getting into. Furthermore, they realise this is Leland McCauly IV's penthouse.

Dynasty tries to scan for Phora.

Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - The Legion Groupie Vol. 13, #9 August 2986 Special Double-Wedding Issue!

From our GM during the game

Editor’s Note
by Flynt Brojj

Well, we had our double Legion wedding, just not the ones we were expecting! In this issue, we’ll cover those weddings—one expected, one not (but still a long time coming)—as well as a look back at previous Legion weddings and how they stacked up. Duo Damsel and Bouncing Boy. Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad. Colossal Boy and “Chameleon Girl.” Karate Kid and Princess (well, Queen) Projectra. These weddings excited the imagination of the United Planets. Well, the three that we knew about anyway.

Photos provided were too big for blogger platform

And now two more! Longtime Legion couple Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl finally tied the knot after what seems like decades of dating! And Legion Academy students Dynasty and Nightwind likewise wed, all in perhaps the most daring wedding we’ve ever seen (and boy did we see a lot!). Held on Winath at Dynasty’s insistence, the brides and groom and all the guests were naked! Wow!

Our GM provided photos. Because they were of a real wedding, I have redacted them

But our spies within Legion HQ and the Academy hint that trouble brews for both couples. Rumor has it that Nightwind’s former partners, Lamprey and Crystal Kid, are intensely jealous of her new relationship, especially since they are not being included in the planned honeymoon (said to be set for Ventura where, lest we forget, Pflx Rambo is still dead). Meanwhile, we’re told that Ultra Boy felt rushed into the wedding by Phantom Girl and is already having regrets. Word is he’s in love with someone else and was considering breaking off his relationship with Phantom Girl, which is why she sped up plans for their wedding and joined Dynasty and Nightwind on Winath. Yikes!

Meanwhile, what of the planned wedding that started all of this—Legion Academy student and new Legionnaire Quatro Lad’s engagement to Margi Tinelli, the 3rd richest female sentient in the UP? Various stories are circulating. One is that Ms. Tinelli was pressured into calling it off by her uncle and guardian, Leland McCauley. Another is that the four-armed hero got cold feet and hired a lawyer—former Legionnaire Tenzil Kem—to work out a more advantageous pre-nup agreement for him. Will these two love-avians ever enter wedded bliss?

Inside you’ll find retrospective looks at the previous Legion weddings, uncensored, long-range holophotos of the double wedding on Winath, and speculation on what’s next for our happy (?) couples. Long Live the Legion!

Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - Back to normal-ish (part 1 of 2)

The time bubble continues through the timestream with Dynasty, Skid, Quatro, Reflecta-kid, Kat, Harmonia, and the rest. However, there is no time beacon. Dynasty has a vision and when she comes to she reveals that Time Trapper has conceded defeat. The party had indeed managed to restore Brainiac to the timestream, but not necessarily the others. He further indicated that he would restore the others, in return for a favor. Dynasty agreed to this, but his favor was to “Prevent Kat from becoming a villain.” She also indicates that she isn’t considered a “neutral party” in the time war, but has now “sided with magic by using magic” and therefore allied with Mordru.

Dynasty and Harmonia start arguing, again, about what would happen. Dynasty asks Skid to scan her mother to determine the genetic structure of the unborn child. Skid indicates it would be very dangerous to do so in the travelling bubble and refuses to do it unless they are in a medlab AND with her consent. Dynasty is very worried about a temporal paradox as she is unaware of what the fate of the child would be. She is also worried that her mother finding out what is really going on could ALSO create a paradox.

Dynasty’s mother (Callista Ramirez) awakes. In the ensuing, requisite argument, Callista gets confirmation that Dynasty is her future daughter. Dynasty and Katrina start to argue causing Katrina to yell out, “I’m Dynasty I know everything” and looking EXACTLY LIKE Dynasty for about 30 seconds. Kat is surprised at this turn of events and insists she was there the entire time.

They are distracted by the console smoking, and Kat realises there is a fire in the console and they need to land NOW. Harmonia reveals that she sabotaged the console during the argument. Quatro and Katrina land the time bubble just outside of Metropolis.

Everyone’s Omni-com chimes for the NEW issue of LEGION GROUPIE that had been previously corrupted and MANY, MANY emails. They have arrived on the correct date.

They put out the fire, but the time bubble is damaged. Further, Kat realises that they are sealed in and air isn’t flowing. They are forced to open the door allowing Harmonia to escape. Defeated, Dynasty tells her mother that she is free to use her powers to travel back to her correct time. Callista reveals that this will be Dynasty’s younger brother, Kyle. Callista departs.

Dynasty quickly scans news and history reports and concludes that time appears to be mostly correct.

They read the Legion Groupie that has finally arrived!

Legion of Superheroes - Season 3 - LG8-86

From our GM

So our heroes are lost in the timestream with no beacon back to when they left. They've got an aggressive, suicidal Harmonia Li and a pregnant Green Lantern (who's also Dynasty's mother from the past!) with them. Will they get back home, and will the timeline be back to normal? We'll find out Monday!

Meanwhile, the latest issue of The Legion Groupie has come out. It's a pity Omnicom reception is so bad in the timestream....

State of stuff

I figured I'd just jump in and say what has been going in IRL for the few of you who read this and DON'T see me on a regular basis!

Amongst other things, I've been working very hard at personal organisation and self-actualisation (oooo, Kurt Goldstein reference!) to get my head together. Part of this has meant curating personal life a bit and focusing. Sooo...

  1. I can finally say that I know how to play guitar. I play reasonably OK and enjoy it. I even formed a rock band! Playing music is the most fun thing I do.
  2. I cut a lot of my Warhammer army. I didn't play it much and when I did, it wasn't particularly fun. I kept enough for playing kill-teams which is about the scale of battle I enjoy.
  3. Playing RPGs (as seen by all the sessions notes I post here). I've fallen in love with the Starfinder setting/game and hope to run and *gasp* complete a campaign of it!
  4. Yeah, not doing computer games. They just don't really speak to me anymore. What I liked about CoX was not just running around being a superhero, but having friends in the virtual world. No other game does that as well and most CRPGs are just "meh" anymore.
  5. Reading a number of comics beyond KODT including: Domino (currently being written by Gail Simone, Pathfinder, and Trade Paperbacks I find interesting.
  6. Managed to fix my focus so that I can actually successfully read books a bit more. Not as much as peeps I know, but better.
  7. Work just isn't going to define me. I have what I do to earn money, and I leave it at the end of the day. To maintain a puritan work ethic, I have to like what I do a LOT more than what I do to get cash.
  8. Listening to many podcasts - I may talk about those in another post.
  9. Not as much TV but more movies.
If the spirit moves me, I might talk about all of these a LOT more in depth. We will see!

Shattered Star - Into the Nightmare Rift - Free the Birds / Ice Sculptures / Brelish Sunrise / Ratlings

Our heroes are in the Upper Central Plateau of Sharn where the Golden Dragon sits docked at Lyrandar Tower and is being loaded. The crew of the ship escort the party on to the ship and into a vast dining hall. Hall is well appointed with a bar at one end. Jazeem, who knows that there are bound elementals causing the ship to fly asks about the "enslaved elementals".  Morrigan orders a Brelish Sunrise.

The party meets Captain D'Lyrandar. A small bit of Dragonmark peeks out from under his left sleeve. He greets them and says that he has heard of them. He also indicates that he had previously been an adventurer as well but was called back to take up his duties with House Lyrandar. The captain explains that this is a full test of the cruise ship including accommodations and amenities. Morrigan enjoys a Brelish Sunrise.

The captain gives them a tour of the ship including a series of items that look like Sharn sky cabs. Standing there is Mazzia D'Lyrandar, the captain's cousin.  She explains the safety features of the ship including the "sky cabs" which are basically flying life-boats. Morrigan sips a Brelish Sunrise.

The captains points out various areas: the Laughing Dog-fish Theatre; the fore deck has a swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna; fore tavern and aft taverns (where Morrigan procures Brelish Sunrises); the library and reading room; the spa/salon; the observation decks; smoking room and billiard hall; and their suites.

Morrigan gets a Brelish Sunrise and heads to the library. Wil and Jazeem are shown the shooting range with clay and live pigeons. Jazeem is shocked that they are shooting pigeons for the sake of shooting them. Jazeem decides that he must free them.

The party splits up and enjoys the various amenities:

  • Tryptic decides to try ice sculpting in the freezer section.
  • Morrigan is in the library reading and notices tiny footprints in the dust. She brings this to the stewards attention and obtains another Brelish Sunrise.
  • Jazeem attempts to free the pigeons only to discover that flying is not their strength.
  • Wil relaxes in his room and rests.
At dinner, Morrigan asks Wil if he recognises the footprints, but doesn't. She knows they are some type of rat, but doesn't know for certain. Morrigan orders a pitcher of Sangria ("No, that's just for me").

The head of security for the Golden Dragon asks to inspect everyone's weapons. The party agrees.

That night after dinner,  Morrigan returns to her room and casts Arcane eye and performs a search of the ship. She eventually discovers 1. Mazzia and the head of security are an item ("Good for them"), 2. a Ratling nest, and 3. her glass was empty.

BONUS!
During the game, I created a table to determine where on the ship Morrigan was at any time.
