Shattered Star - Prelude of Into the Nightmare Rift - Is this Pandemic cheesecake?

The party gathers up all the loot. However, they realise that they can't find the shard on Ardathanatus. They return to the Lighthouse and Casamir is dismayed to see that Koriah is a cat. He casts break enchantment on her and she drops the missing shard. Koriah is temporarily still under the sway of the shard somewhat. The shard is the Shard of Envy. Morrigan decides to carry it.

The party teleports back to Sharn.

As the party walks around Sharn (selling and bookkeeping). People approach them and they realise that their fame is growing. Someone asks for Jazeems autograph. Morrigan meets former Sergeant, now Investigator Cassidy and they chat. Everyone seems to know about the fact they are collecting the shards.

Morrigan uses the shard. She sees a jungle near a mountainside. Off in the distance she sees a volcano erupting. She sees this towering crystalline thorn or spur. Morrigan believes this is Xen'drik. Morrigan gives a high-level overview of the history of Xen'drik (she rolls a 43 on a history check). She realises this is a specific location in Xen'drik called the Guiltspur.

The Guiltspur is said to be cursed—a site avoided even by the giants that call the Storval Plateau home. The site is little more than a strange green pinnacle of stone protruding from the ground, but even this is enough to send chills down the spines of those who believe in the area’s curse.

It is in fact an ancient ruin dating back to the Age of Demons that predates the giant empire. It is a building buried under a massive lava flow. The building itself is said to have been a combination laboratory and embassy for the Karzoug the Lord of Dust.

The place was little more than rumor until recent years, when stories began to emerge of an immense excavation led by the blue dragon Cadrilkasta. These stories tell of entire tribes of hill and fire giants, enslaved by the dragon and forced to painstakingly dig out the chambers of buildings buried in the ground below the great green spur.

They return to the Pathfind...err...Pathways Society and let them know they found the next Shard and would need the ioun stone for it. They say that they can provide travel by airship. Morrigan points out about the weird travel time effects of Xen'drik.
