DC Modern - Session 13 (Annual 1) - 9/28/20

Cat Grant here on this amazing beautiful Monday morning.  Spring has come to Gateway City and everything looks new and wonderful.  So here is all the news you need to know for the water cooler talk.

 1. As protests mount over revelations concerning the Myrmidon's second in Command - Quantum Plumber, calls for Commissioner Hall's  firing are mounting as pressure increases to investigate child abduction allegations.  Signs of life have returned to the Embassy and protestors, overnight, have begun to gather there as well.  In the olden days lynch mobs were an acceptable way to deal with things if the police did not handle things.

2. Over the weekend Mayor O'Dell gives the key of the city to Gateway's favorite son Dr. Tripod.  Our humble hero gave short remarks.  Though there were the usual denials he has no plans to run for elective office, to this reporters ears they seemed less definitive than in the past.

3. Massive escape at infamous Arkham Asylum!  Also this weekend poor benighted Gotham had its largest inmate escape from its famous Asylum for the criminally insane.  Not since the Bane terrorist incident of 3 years ago has such a large amount of the criminally insane been set free.

And there you have it.  Everything you need to know to sound urbane and well informed this Monday morning.  See you next time.

Grandfather and Orichalcum continue their conversation about Harmonia Li being her grandmather. Grandfather claims to be Homo Magus who has known magic since age 3. Grandfather also claims to have had many conquests that were fruitful. That was enough for Orichalcum, who returned to the Embassy. But there were protestors and barricades around the Embassy, protesting Quantum Plumber’s alleged pedophilia.

Rachael tries to leave a computer trail showing that Dr. Tripod is responsible for the malicious rumors about Quantum. Meanwhile Quantum tries to get the government to do something, but they’re the government so they’re useless. So he makes an appointment with a metahuman lawyer.

A lawyer, Jack Tapper, shows up to see Achilles, who refuses to see him because he’s failing to write a new poem. Meanwhile, Quantum’s government-appointed lawyer claims the case against him is settled and he’s been released from government service.

Quantum also contacts Dr. Mid-Nite for a medical exam, so the group goes to Gotham. Quantum’s tests for brain cancer will take a while. Rachael is in perfect health. Orichalcum is identified as Homo Magus. Achilles refuses mood stabilizers.

Back home, the lawyer is trying to see Achilles again. He refuses. Dr. Mid-Nite had given Orichalcum Zatanna’s number, so she calls her and she comes to visit. She confirms that Orichalcum is from one of the Homines Magi’s lost bloodlines.

Achilles’ poetry begins to go much better. Quantum lets Commissioner Hall know we’re back. He also meets with a judge who specializes in metas who recommends him to a lawyer, Mark Shaw. Meanwhile Jake Tapper returns, and Achilles finally sees him and gets a check for $350,000 from Dr. Tripod. He was hired by Bill Gordon. Achilles hires him to sue Tripod.

Achilles returns a call to Donna. She suggests having Quantum assume a new identity, or she can help our PR with a public appearance with us. Quantum opts for a new identity.

Rachael gets a call from Bruce Wayne, who comes to visit later that day. He looks much older than modern-day Bruce, and turns out to be the Gaslight Batman who ended up here in the past and has been looking for Rachael and waiting for her to return as he knew her. His reality is said not to exist any more. She invites him to stay at the Embassy and tells the others about him.

Mark Shaw meets with Quantum, who tells him similar government agents have been let go in similar ways, some with extreme prejudice. He offers to help procure a new identity and provides new documentation. He advises Quantum to avoid all contact with the government.

NuBruce is there next morning (he calls himself Thomas) when Quantum tells us of his meeting with Shaw
